Trice vs Sketchfab
An honest, side-by-side look at Trice and Sketchfab, the popular 3D model platform. See which one is right for you.
Sketchfab is the stronger product in many ways: quality, reliability, and optimization are all excellent, and its rendering is best-in-class. But depending on what you need, it may not be the right fit. Trice is cheaper, carries no watermark or branding, lets you choose which viewer controls show, is simpler to set up, and can place several models in one scene. We are also open to feature requests and building fast, and our visual quality is very close to Sketchfab's.
Full breakdown, including where Sketchfab wins, is in the comparison table below.

The verdict
Let us be straight: in most ways, Sketchfab is the stronger product. Its rendering is best-in-class, it is mature and reliable, its optimization is excellent, and it supports more formats than almost anything else.
Sketchfab has years on the market and a big company's resources behind it. Trice is a much smaller team, but we hold our own: the quality is genuinely close, and in many cases the things we do better matter more. Trice costs half as much, puts no watermark or branding on the viewer, and lets you control exactly which buttons appear. It is simpler to set up, holds several models in one scene, and has no per-model or upload limits. And because we are small, we ship fast and build what users actually ask for.
So the conclusion is simple and honest. For the highest-end visuals and a built-in audience, go with Sketchfab. For private, branding-free, customizable 3D on your own site, with more built-in features at half the price, Trice is the better fit, and it only keeps getting better.
Questions
A few reasons. We are a small team with low overhead and we do not run a marketplace or storefront. The viewer and editor are free, and so is self-hosting, with no watermark and no limits. The only thing you ever pay for is having us host your files on our servers, and even that is $12/month, half of Sketchfab's $24.
Yes. In most cases the difference is either unnoticeable or small. There are some scenes where Sketchfab comes out ahead, but they are rare, and the best way to judge is to import the same model into both and see for yourself. Very few viewers on the market get as close to Sketchfab's quality as Trice does. Setup matters too: in Trice a model looks great with no extra work, and if you do want to fine-tune the scene, it is much easier in Trice than in Sketchfab, whose settings are geared more toward people who already know 3D.
We think so. Trice's editor is built to be clear and convenient, so you can import a model and have a good-looking scene in minutes, even with no 3D background. Sketchfab's settings are capable, but the interface is less convenient and harder to navigate if you do not already know 3D.
On Sketchfab the limits are real: the free plan caps you at 10 models of 100 MB each, and even Pro is 50 uploads a month at 200 MB each. Trice has no limit on the number of models or their size. Self-hosted shares have no storage limit at all, and the Pro plan's 50 GB goes a very long way once Trice's optimization has shrunk your files.
Quite a bit. Trice lets you combine several models in one scene, add 3D text, set up hotspots with guided tours, create material and object variants that visitors can switch, build camera tours, and export images or video. Sketchfab is built around showing a single model with annotations, so much of this is either not available or needs its API.
It is a fair question for a small company. Trice is independent and actively developed: we ship updates often, fix problems quickly, and Pro users get support straight from the team. Being small actually works in your favour: we respond fast, and we are in this for the long run.
