What is STL?

STL (Stereolithography) is the standard format for 3D printing. It stores raw triangle mesh data — vertices and face normals — without any material, color, or texture information. STL files come in ASCII or binary format.

Who uses STL?

The primary format for 3D printing (used by every slicer software), CAD export from SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, FreeCAD, and medical/scientific 3D visualization.

Why convert STL to GLB?

STL files have no materials, no UV mapping, and no compression. Converting to GLB lets you add materials in Trice Studio, view the model in a web browser, and share it with a much smaller file size thanks to meshopt compression.
